About
If this blog is anything, its an exercise in writing. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to become a better writer. Time and time again, I’ve failed to be consistent in my well-intentioned efforts.
So, in order to get over my lack of commitment, I decided to blog about one of my favorite subjects, Arsenal football club. Since they play 38 Premiership matches in a season, I’ve dedicated myself to writing about every match. There will be others posts, but at least, I will write about Arsenal’s league matches. I already arrange my weekends around their schedule, so it might as well be my writing schedule too. As the season progresses, there will surely be other topics to come up and my mission will be accomplished – I can call myself a writer, right?
About me, Doug Whitehead
I’m a programmer by trade, a mathematician and philosopher by training, a confessional Protestant, and a Arsenal football supporter since the first time I saw Denis Bergkamp put 3 goals past Leicester City in 1997. To this day, Bergkamp is my favorite player, with Thierry Henry coming in at a close second.
I’m an American and haven’t missed a US National team game since before the 1994 World Cup. Having grown up in Southern California, I’ve played soccer all my life. People say that the USA isn’t a footballing nation but, wherever I live or travel, there are always folks willing and able to play. And, I’ve lived all across this land. I’m approaching the ripe ol’ age of 40 and there hasn’t been a time since high school that I haven’t played in a men’s league somewhere.
Blog topics: Football (Soccer), U.S. National Team, Premier League (with an emphasis on Arsenal FC), Major League Soccer (primarily Los Angeles Galaxy and sometimes the Columbus Crew).
